Recorded over three days and nights in Rudolf Stingel's New York studio, the album features eight improvisations alongside Stravinsky's Sonata for Piano and Debussy's Jardins sous la pluie.
The vinyl sleeve features an original artwork by Rudolf Stingel from his Gold Series. The painting was created in the artist's studio, where the Steinway concert grand used for the recording was placed directly on top of the gold canvas. As Drungle rehearsed and recorded, the weight of the piano and the movement of the pedals left permanent traces on the surface, making the artwork itself an integral part of the recording process.
